How to Play Live Super 6 Baccarat: Rules, Odds and US Sites

Super 6 is no-commission baccarat: Player and Banker bets both pay even money, except that a Banker win with a total of 6 pays only half (1:2). That one rule lifts the Banker bet’s house edge from 1.06% at a standard 5% commission table to about 1.46%, while the Player bet stays at 1.24%. Most Super 6 tables also offer a Super 6 side bet on a winning Banker 6, which pays 12:1 at Visionary iGaming tables (a 29.98% house edge) and 15:1 in Evolution’s No Commission Baccarat (13.82%).

How to Play Live Super 6

Super 6 plays exactly like Punto Banco. You never make a decision after the deal; the dealer follows fixed drawing rules.

1. Place a bet on Player, Banker or Tie before the betting timer runs out. You can add side bets, including the circled Super 6 spot.
2. Two cards go to the Player hand and two to the Banker hand.
3. Aces count 1, cards 2 to 9 count face value, and tens and picture cards count 0. Only the last digit of a total counts, so 8 + 9 = 17 is a hand of 7.
4. A two-card 8 or 9 is a natural, and neither hand draws.
5. Otherwise, a third card may be drawn under the rules below. No hand ever gets a fourth card.
6. The hand closer to 9 wins. Player wins pay 1:1, Banker wins pay 1:1 (half on a winning 6), and Tie pays 8:1. On a tie, Player and Banker bets push.

Super 6 Third-Card Rules

The drawing rules are identical to standard baccarat. The Player hand draws on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7. If the Player stands, the Banker draws on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7. When the Player draws, the Banker follows this chart:

The Banker-6 Rule: What It Costs

At a standard table the casino takes 5% of every Banker win. Super 6 drops that commission but halves the payout on the one Banker total that wins most often by a small margin, 6. The Wizard of Odds works out the eight-deck probabilities as follows:

Add it up: 0.4047 x 1 + 0.0539 x 0.5 – 0.4462 = -0.0146. The Banker bet loses about $1.46 per $100 wagered on average, against $1.06 at a 5% commission table. With six decks the figure is 1.45%, so shoe size makes no practical difference.

Worked example: 1,000 hands at $100

• Standard Banker, 5% commission: $100,000 wagered on Banker costs about $1,060 on average.
• Super 6 Banker: the same action costs about $1,460, or $400 more.
• Super 6 Player: unchanged at 1.24%, about $1,240.

On a single hand the rule feels generous, because most Banker wins pay a full $100 instead of $95. Over a session, the Banker wins on 6 (about one hand in 19) that pay only $50 cost more than the commission saves. That is why the Player bet is the cheaper main bet at a Super 6 table, while Banker is the cheaper bet at a commission table.

The Super 6 Side Bet: 12:1 or 15:1?

This side bet wins when the Banker wins with a total of 6, the same event that halves the Banker payout. Studios use it as “insurance” for Banker bettors. The payout varies by studio, and the house edge moves a lot with it:

A winning Banker 6 turns up about 5.39% of the time, roughly once every 18.6 hands. At 12:1 you get back 13 units (12 plus your stake) on a win, so a $5 side bet returns $65 about 5.39% of the time: an average of about $3.50 back per $5 bet, a loss of roughly $1.50 each time you place it. At 15:1 the same $5 loses about $0.69 on average.

The offshore casinos in our list do not publish the Super 6 payout outside their game windows, so open the table’s paytable or help screen before you bet. If it says 12:1, the side bet costs about 28 times as much as the Banker bet.

Other Side Bets at Super 6 Tables

Super 6 vs Standard Baccarat vs EZ Baccarat

Figures are for eight decks (Wizard of Odds). If you like betting Banker, a commission table or EZ Baccarat is cheaper than Super 6. If you prefer Player, it costs the same everywhere, and Super 6 has the advantage of simple even-money payouts with no commission to calculate.

Super 6 Strategy Tips

• Bet Player at a Super 6 table. At 1.24% it is cheaper than the 1.46% Banker bet under the half-pay rule.
• Check the side-bet payout. A 12:1 Super 6 side bet costs nearly 30% of every stake; 15:1 costs about 14%.
• Do not treat the side bet as insurance. It wins only 5.39% of the time and does not reduce the cost of your Banker bet; it adds a second, more expensive bet.
• Skip the Tie and the pair bets. All carry double-digit house edges.

Super 6 in Land-Based Casinos

Super 6 is not only an online game. The Nevada Gaming Control Board has approved a Baccarat Super Six side bet whose rules let the casino choose a payout from 13:1 to 17:1 on a winning Banker 6. Under those rules the bet goes in $5 steps up to $100 per player position, it must be placed before the deal, and it loses on any other Banker total, a Banker loss or a tie. Land-based Super 6 games also use the half-pay rule on a Banker 6, so the same 1.46% Banker figure applies. Compare that range with online tables: a casino paying 17:1 cuts the side-bet edge to about 3%, while 12:1 online costs ten times as much.
